Global large-size LCD panel production capacity will increase by more than 9% annually in 2020
According to relevant data, as China's flat panel manufacturers continue to expand their production capacity, it is estimated that by 2020, the global production capacity of large-size (9-inch and above) TFTLCD panels will increase by more than 9% annually.
It is estimated that before 2021, China will have a total of six 10.5/11G production lines put into operation, two of which are from BOE and China Star Optoelectronics (CSOT), one from Foxconn Electronics, and one from Chongqing HKC.
It is particularly worth mentioning that Chongqing HKC and China Electronics (CEC) are expected to follow BOE and China Star Optoelectronics to actively expand production capacity in the next few years. In 2019, both Chongqing HKC and China Electronics' large-size LCD panel production capacity will increase by more than 55%.
As the production capacity of Chinese manufacturers continues to expand, the business prospects of other flat-panel manufacturers outside China will also be affected. It is expected that South Korean tablet makers may start to cut LCD panel production lines in 2019. It is predicted that by 20122, the monthly output of LG Display's 8.5G production line will decrease by approximately 120,000 substrates compared to 2018.
However, due to the large-scale capacity expansion implemented from 2018 to 2020, it will lead to oversupply and decline in revenue, which will force panel makers to become more conservative in new investment. Under this background, it is expected that 2022 By 2023, the global production capacity of large-size panels will increase by less than 2%. Source: OFweek
