On June 18 this year, the first 8.5-generation TFT-LCD glass substrate production line was successfully ignited in Bengbu. This is the result of independent innovation of CNBM Bengbu Glass Industry Design and Research Institute over the past three years under the support of the national key research and development plan 'High-generation electronic glass substrate and cover core technology development and industrialization demonstration' project. The project achieved a 'zero' breakthrough in my country's high-generation liquid crystal glass substrates and formed a key process technology for high-generation electronic glass with my country's independent intellectual property rights.
On August 26 this year, the production line was successfully introduced in Bengbu at one time. The project was also officially transferred from the kiln heating and linkage debugging phase to the trial production phase, laying a solid foundation for the mass production of products. basis.
TFT-LCD glass substrate is a glass substrate for thin film transistor liquid crystal displays. According to experts, the display industry is divided according to product size. It is generally considered that the 6th generation line and below are the low generation, the 8.5 generation line and above are the high generation, and the 8.5 generation line can cut six 55-inch screens. The maximum screen size for economic cutting is 55 inches.
According to the information from the LCD branch of the China Optoelectronics Industry Association, in 2018, the demand for glass substrates in mainland China was about 260 million square meters, of which the demand for 8.5-generation glass substrates was 233 million square meters , And the annual supply of domestic TFT-LCD glass substrates is less than 40 million square meters, and they are all 6-generation lines and below. By 2020, my country's 8.5-generation and above TFT-LCD glass substrate market demand will exceed 300 million square meters, accounting for 49.6% of the global total demand.
