Novatek will provide LCD driver chips for iPad devices from the second half of next year

On December 1st, according to foreign media reports, industry sources said that chip designer and Huawei supplier Novatek has signed an agreement with Apple, which will allow the company to provide the iPad from the second half of 2021. The device provides LCD driver chip.

Nantek Technology was established in 1997. Its main products are a full range of flat display screen driver ICs, as well as digital audio and video and multimedia single-chip product solutions for mobile devices and consumer electronics.

The company supplies AMOLED driver ICs (integrated circuits), LCD for Samsung driver ICs and other products to Huawei. Huawei is the company’s main customer. However, in August this year, Taiwanese media reported that Huawei is developing panel driver chips, which will impact existing supply chain companies such as Novatek and Duntech.

In the third quarter of this year, Novatek achieved revenue of NT$22 billion, an increase of 18.22% from the previous quarter. The company predicts that in the fourth quarter, its revenue will be between 21.8 billion Taiwan dollars and 22.5 billion Taiwan dollars. (TechWeb)
