Panel Research Institute DSCC: OLED mobile phone screen output will exceed LCD in 2020

September 24 news, according to foreign media reports, the panel research organization Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) stated that the output of OLED mobile phone displays will exceed the output of LCD in 2020 and will reach 65% of the market by 2025 Share.

DSCC predicts that by 2025, OLED production will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 20%, and the market share of LCD for Samsung will rise from 5% in 2019 to 14% in 2025.

DSCC stated that BOE will become the world's largest display manufacturer in 2019. In mid-September, BOE stated that the company's Chongqing sixth-generation flexible AMOLED (active matrix organic light-emitting diode) production line has started construction and is expected to be put into operation in 2021. In March last year, the company announced this project with a total investment of 46.5 billion yuan. The main products are positioned as AMOLED high-end mobile phone displays and emerging mobile display products.

DSCC also said that in 2025, South Korean LCD panel manufacturer LG Display will become the world's second largest display manufacturer, followed by China Star Optoelectronics, Innolux and Samsung Display.

LG Display is one of the world's largest manufacturers and suppliers of thin film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) panels, organic light emitting diodes (OLED) and flexible displays. Last week, the company announced a voluntary layoff plan for South Korean production line employees in order to reduce its domestic employees due to the company's rising financial losses. Previously, LG Display had replaced its chief executive officer (CEO) because it was unable to compete with China's cheap liquid crystal display (LCD) panels.
