Precautions for handling and using LCD screen, LCM, and modules

Precautions for handling and using LCD screen, LCM, and modules 1. Prevent excessive pressure: After the LCD is soldered to the circuit board, the LCD pins should not be stressed in principle, otherwise it will cause poor contact. If it is necessary to bear force, it is necessary to design supporting feet that do not need to conduct electricity, or use elastic special-shaped feet, or use hard glue to fix them. 2. Prevent scratches: Since the surface of the LCD is a polarizer, which belongs to plastic, it should be absolutely avoided to be scratched by hard objects during assembly and use. There is a layer of protective film on the polarizer on the surface of the LCD, but there is no protective film on the lower surface of the mobile phone LCD without backlight, which is especially easy to be scratched. 3. Avoid applying DC: The DC component of the driving voltage should be as small as possible, preferably no more than 50mV or 1%. Applying too much DC component for a long time will cause the liquid crystal to decompose and cause the electrodes to undergo electrochemical reactions and age. In the segment display, a two-frequency divider circuit is often introduced in the oscillator circuit to ensure the symmetry of the square wave. 4. Anti-ultraviolet: All LCD screens of our company have the function of anti-ultraviolet. 5. Prevent electrostatic interference: Since the LCD operating voltage is extremely low and the internal resistance is large, very little static electricity can cause the display. Therefore, try not to place the LCD in an environment with static electricity. If it cannot be avoided, you should design an anti-static circuit inside the LCD, or speed up the AC refresh rate in the driver to eliminate static electricity. 6. Soldering precautions: (1) The distance from the bottom of the glass to the PCB soldering position should generally not be less than 5MM, and the limit should not be less than 2MM. The soldering temperature should not be higher than 260°C, otherwise the excessive thermal shock on the LCD screen will cause the molecular arrangement to be chaotic and appear black spots. When the welding temperature reaches 350 degrees Celsius, there will be a large proportion of black spots after welding. And the welding time should not exceed 5 seconds, so as not to burn the polarizer yellow. (2) Try not to force the pins after soldering to avoid poor contact. If it is necessary to adjust the position of the LCD substrate or the pins, it should be done after the pins are naturally cooled to room temperature, and it is strictly forbidden to touch the LCD before cooling. (3) When welding LCD, welding personnel should wear finger cots or gloves to prevent hand sweat from corroding metal feet. 7. Moisture-proof device: (1) Since LCD is low-voltage and micro-power consumption, the resistivity of liquid crystal material is extremely high, reaching 10,000 megohms. Therefore, slight conduction on the glass surface due to moisture will affect the display. (2) It is strictly forbidden for water vapor to condense on the surface of the display screen. Condensation of water droplets on the surface of the display will cause rapid hydrolysis of the polarizer, rapid aging and decomposition at the corners and continuous diffusion to the center, resulting in no display. 8. Low temperature response speed: the lower the temperature, the higher the viscosity of the liquid crystal material, the slower the response speed and the longer the response time. For every 10°C lower temperature, the response time will be extended by 3 times. Response time = rise time + fall time. When working at low temperature, the data refresh time of the driver should be longer than the response time of the LCD screen to ensure the normal display of the LCD screen. 9. Use and storage within the specified temperature range: Since the liquid crystal state will disappear beyond a certain temperature range, it must be used and stored within the specified temperature range. If the temperature is too high, the mobile LCD screen state will disappear and become a liquid state, and the display surface will be black and unable to work. Do not turn on the power at this time. When the temperature returns to normal, the display surface will also return to normal. If the temperature is too low, the mobile LCD screen state will also disappear, and the ice will become crystals. At this time, it is possible to destroy the alignment layer during the crystal formation process and cause permanent damage. 10. Molecular diffusion phenomenon: If the LCD screen displays a fixed content for a long time, say three to five years, then molecular diffusion phenomenon will be formed, that is, there will be an obvious word shadow in the displayed place. It is recommended to program the LCD screen to rest or refresh intermittently to avoid damage caused by keeping a fixed posture for too long.
