Q2 Taiwan LCD TV shipments soared by 15.9%
According to relevant data, thanks to the increase in large-size and private label TV shipments, Taiwan’s LCD TV shipments were 7.65 million units in the second quarter of 2018, a quarterly growth rate of 15.9%.
According to the latest research by Digitimes Research, Taiwanese manufacturers’ shipments in the second half of 2018 may be comparable to the same period last year, with quarterly shipments remaining at more than 9 million units.
As for the TV shipment destinations of Taiwanese manufacturers, demand in the North American market has rebounded since the second quarter; the proportion of Taiwanese manufacturers’ TV shipments to the North American market may increase in the second half of 2018, partly because Seasonal factors, partly because of Amazon’s strong orders for Fire TV.
At the same time, the proportion of Taiwanese manufacturers’ TV shipments of size 50 and above in total shipments increased by 10% in the second quarter, while the ratio of 4K models to total shipments reached By 40%.
Although Japanese customers accounted for the largest share of Taiwan’s TV exports in the second quarter, when Taiwan’s TV manufacturer’s largest customer Vizio will begin to clear inventory and update orders to meet peak season demand in the second half of 2018, North America and Shipments in the European market may soar.
In terms of the ranking of Taiwanese TV manufacturers, TPV Technology and Foxconn Electronics continued to be the top two manufacturers in the second quarter, but their combined ratio with Taiwan’s total TV shipments has fallen to 80% the following. In general, the TV shipments of Taiwanese manufacturers in 2018 are expected to reach 33 million units, the same as the previous year.
