Samsung Electronics said it will continue to produce LCD panels for TVs and monitors

Reuters, Seoul, December 29-Samsung Electronics said on Tuesday that it will continue to produce liquid crystal display (LCD) panels for TVs and monitors. The home trend caused by the COVID-19 pandemic drives up demand.

Samsung Display announced in March that it would end all LCD panel production before the end of this year in order to focus on more advanced technologies. However, it has now decided to continue to produce LCD panels in South Korea without specifying when it will stop production.

Samsung Display pointed out that how long it will continue to produce will depend on market conditions. The company previously stated at the end of October that it was considering 'continuing production in the short term.'

Local media IT Chosun reported earlier on Tuesday, citing unnamed industry sources as saying that LCD production will be postponed for one year at the request of Samsung’s electronic TV manufacturing department.

A Samsung Display spokesperson declined to comment on the IT Chosun report.
