According to South Korea’s 'Joongang Daily' report on September 25, Samsung Display will invest 13 trillion won (approximately 77.4 billion yuan) in Asan Tangjeong, Chungcheongnam-do, South Korea. With this investment, Samsung Display will replace Asan Yujing’s liquid crystal display (LCD) production line with a quantum dot organic light-emitting diode (QD-OLED) production line.

Reported that if the investment goes smoothly, Samsung Display will convert LCD to QLED production line faster in the fierce competition with Chinese companies. As the main force in the global display market, LCD is also expected to be replaced by Samsung's QLED and LG's organic light-emitting diode (LCD for Samsung).

In addition, Korean media claimed that the 13 trillion won investment was a measure taken by Samsung to break away from Chinese display companies. Many analysts in South Korea believe that it will be difficult for Korean companies to maintain their advantages in this field in another three years. Therefore, since the beginning of this year, there has been news that Samsung will make large-scale investments in the market to seize the QD-OLED market.

According to the report, Samsung Electronics' vice chairman Li Zaiyong, who visited Saudi Arabia and other places to conduct on-site guidance and management, will release the above related content as early as the middle of next month.

Previously, LG believed that Samsung’s QLED brand was “exaggerated and misleading” and had filed a lawsuit with South Korean corporate regulators.
